ONE ACT OF HOPE SCHOLARSHIP

ABOUT

This one-time scholarship award is open to Weslaco High School seniors who exemplify a giving heart. Two-three students will be selected annually, each receiving a one-time award in the amount of $500-$1,000. Scholarship awards can be used for tuition at an accredited two- or four-year college or university. Special emphasis will be given to students who have participated in the golf or track programs and/or have participated in the Spanish Club who demonstrate an attitude of excellence, kindness to others, humility, and generosity in the classroom, on the athletic field, and/or in the community.

ELIGIBILITY

A Weslaco High School senior who is enrolled in a two- or four-year accredited college or university.

Endorsement of either a teacher or high school administrator who can attest to the student’s exceptional kindness and generous spirit.

Priority is given to a student who is or has been on the golf or track teams and/or who is or has participated in the Spanish Club during high school.

DOWNLOAD APPLICATION

Submit your application to Weslaco High School's Counseling office, along with the required supporting documents no later than March 1.

REQUIRED SUPPORTING DOCUMENTS

A certified educational transcript detailing all high school education to date. Photocopies are accepted, but must be signed by guidance counselor or principal.

A written statement describing the student’s personal goals as well as why they desire a scholarship from Hope-2-Others Foundation. Must be no longer than one page, typed, in 12-point font.

Two character reference letters from a different teacher or school administrator citing examples of the student’s humility, generosity, kindness, and giving heart. At least one letter must be from a teacher or high school administrator. Neither can be from a family member.

Community scholarship recipients eligible for renewal submit formal renewal request.

JULY

Scholarship recipients notify Foundation of the institution of their choosing. Returning or renewal students notify of any changes in education institutions, if applicable.

AUGUST

Scholarship awards are sent to education institutions.

Community scholarship recipients submit Fall Mid-Term report to Foundation.

*The application process will open by February 1 each year.  If the first falls on a weekend or holiday, the application will be released the following business day. Students need to complete the scholarship application in its entirety by March 1. If the first falls on a weekend or holiday, the application will be due the following business day.
